My wellness journey began with fitness
I’m from Santa Cruz, CA and moved to LA to attend UCLA (Go Bruins!) and have always loved living an active lifestyle. I grew up as a martial artist, am a black belt in Tae Kwon Do and pretty much like all fighting sports; let's be honest, punching stuff is a huge stress reliever. Working as a personal trainer and yoga instructor, I love empowering people to perform to their highest ability by caring for their physical and mental health.
Then I became vegan. Yes, I am Mexican and vegan.
I love food, and I am still able to enjoy all of my favs without eating any meat or dairy. I initially became vegan for environmental purposes. Did you know that the carbon footprint of a vegetarian diet is about half of someone who eats meat? Now, even though I am still all about protecting the planet, I am also a major animal lover. Some of my favorite Instagram accounts are pigs (I love pigs)- oh and goats, because goats are awesome.
Good food is one of the simplest ways to care for our bodies, minds, planet, and I believe we can do this without sacrificing flavor. I hope that sharing my journey in the kitchen as I "veganize" some of my favorite recipes (tamales anyone?) will inspire you to add more plant-based meals into your life on the regular.
Did I mention that I also started a “side hustle?"- Food, Photos aaanndd Cannabis?
Ever since I was little I loved photography. My first camera was a hand-me-down from my mom. She bought an old Nikon 35mm film camera at a garage sale for her photography class when she was in college and that I started using in high school.So now, I shoot what I cook! Food photography is my creative escape.
Now here is where cannabis came in. I am a supporter of both Easter and Western medicine, but when given the choice I do try to use natural medications and products. Cannabis is something that I explore microdosing to reap the healing, medicinal and potentially functional benefits without the psychotropic effects. Shooting cannabis has offered an amazing opportunity to tell the stories of and learn from some of the amazing people in the industry.
Now I want to inspire people to move every day, eat more plants and live with a little less stress
There is nothing I love more than seeing people feel their best. So that's what I'm here for, to keep you inspired to move with more freedom, eat mindfully, and live a more connected life.
