“Control of consciousness determines the quality of life.”
Hello! My name is Maya, and I am so happy we are meeting. This whole site explores living life with more awareness, or what I consider Conscious Living. Conscious living is a lifestyle that can lead to more purpose, compassion, courage, decisiveness, and honesty.
It's all pretty simple. I hope to inspire people to care a bit more about how movement, mental health, food, our home, and the environment all play a role in our well-being.
I believe we have the power to make small and thoughtful changes every day that can lead to long-lasting health and a deeper sense of fulfillment. It's just a matter of starting.
Originally from Santa Cruz, CA, Maya began her fitness journey as a swimmer and Martial Artist, where she earned her black belt in Taekwondo while competing nationally in forms and Olympic Sparring.
She continued her training in Mixed Martial Arts, Krav Maga, Judo, Boxing, and Kickboxing. Combined with almost ten years of teaching yoga, her classes and
workshops offer a dynamic and holistic fitness experience for both the body and mind. Maya moved to Los Angeles where she earned her BA in International Development Studies, and Master’s in Public Health from UCLA. A self-proclaimed anatomy nerd, she furthered her understanding of the physiology and biomechanics of movement by completing her M.S. in Kinesiology, with an emphasis in Exercise Science and Sports Psychology, from the University of Texas. Maya also completed her 500-hour Yoga Certification, and she is NASM certified.
A believer that wellness is about more than physical health, she began exploring what she now calls "Conscious Living," which means living with purpose, compassion, courage, decisiveness, and honesty. This lifestyle takes into account mental health, intellectual health, environmental health, and physical health; often resulting in a greater sense of happiness and contentment, health, and fulfillment.
Now, Maya lives in Venice, CA, with her dog Luna and three giant tortoises, working to inspire people to live a more conscious lifestyle every day.
When Maya is not working one-on-one with clients, teaching classes, creating digital content or consulting with brands, you can often find her reading in the backyard with Luna and the tortoises.
