Originally from Santa Cruz, CA Maya Talisa developed a passion for athletics and physical fitness at a young age. She began her fitness journey as a swimmer and Martial Artist where she earned her black belt in taekwondo while competing nationally in forms and Olympic Sparring.  She continued her training in mixed martial arts, krav maga, judo, boxing, and kickboxing. Combined with almost 10 years of teaching yoga, her classes offer a dynamic and holistic fitness experience for both the body and mind. 

Maya moved to Los Angeles to attend UCLA where she received her BA in International Development Studies and her Master’s in Public Health. A self-proclaimed anatomy nerd, she furthered her understanding of the physiology and biomechanics of movement by completing her M.S. in Kinesiology with an emphasis in exercise science and sports psychology from the University of Texas. Along with her yoga certification, she is also NASM certified.

She now lives with her dog Luna in Venice, CA where she inspires people to sweat every day by making movement and healthy living fun and accessible. 

Fun facts about Maya: Her first language is Spanish and speaks some Swahili. An avid traveler, she lived in Tanzania while working for a non-profit.  As a vegan athlete, she loves spending time experimenting in the kitchen. She’s obsessed with avocados and can eat chips and salsa all day. On her free time, she loves to hike, run and cycle.
